When new drivers are preparing for their P1 driving assessment, one of the things we are looking for as assessors is confidence. A young driver who is well taught and well practised will show more natural confidence than one who lacks experience behind the wheel.
Remember that confidence is not a personality type, so we don’t judge on what a person is like, solely on their understanding of how to operate a vehicle and their confidence behind the wheel.
It’s not helpful if someone is extremely nervous or overconfident. Trying to impress your instructor simply should not come into it at all. We ‘re looking at your driving knowledge, proficiency and confidence in each of the maneuvers.
You can develop this confidence by developing an understanding of your vehicle, the road rules and how other drivers are likely to behave on the road. The best way to do this is by taking driving lessons so that you learn correctly and set a good foundation for the rest of your driving life.
In your test, we’re looking for healthy respect of the road and for the test you are about to take. So don’t be afraid or nervous, just simply go through the steps you’ve been taught, watch and listen to what’s happening around you, and you’ll do fine!
One safe and confident student we had the pleasure of working with is Emily Thompson from Brighton in Tasmania. Emily did her driving lessons with us, did lots of practice with her mum and then returned for her P1 driving assessment.
Emily is a great girl and a confident driver because she put in the hours, had a calm approach to all of her lessons and did very well in her test.
Here’s what Emily’s mum Kylie had to say about our driving school…
”We chose Ls2ps Driving to provide professional driving lessons. Ls2ps was our local driving school in Brighton. We had regular lessons, and our daughter formed a great relationship with the instructor that she felt comfortable with. When she had her p1 assessment, she passed on the 1st attempt. We were delighted and would recommend ls2ps Driving.”
